I dug a big pillar candle out of storage the other day, then realized I didn't have a holder for it. Luckily, I had a flat glass container that fit the pillar, so I can burn it without worry.
I decided it needed dressing up for Thanksgiving. I whipped out the 1-1/4" Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (#115617) to accent the cranberry color of the candle. That looked pretty good, but it needed something else.
I reached for my Sage Shadow (#101563) scraps and trimmed one 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" to make a "belly band" for the ribbon. Sage Shadow and Chocolate Chip, along with Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral and Really Rust, make up the main colors of my kitchen. I also punched a Wide Oval (#112082) from the same color and edged it with the Elegant Eggplant Classic Stampin' Pad (#105210) + a Sponge Dauber (#102892).
I reached for my newest favorite holiday stamp set, Holiday Best (#115364-only available with Hosts/Hostess orders), and stamped the "Give Thanks" image in Elegant Eggplant on a scrap of Very Vanilla (#101650). Then I used the Scallop Oval Punch (#114889) and daubed the scallops with a Really Rust Classic Stampin' Pad (#102549). I also spritzed the oval with a Really Rust Stampin' Write Marker (#100073) in the Color Spritzer Tool (#107066) and layered it on the wide oval with SNAIL (#104332).
More scraps made the leaves. I used Really Rust (#100661) and More Mustard (#100946) on the Leaves #2 BigShot Originals Die (#113459) and ran it through the BigShot (#113439) just once. More Elegant Eggplant daubed along the edges and the ribbon embellishment was ready to assemble.
I scored the Sage Shadow strip at 3/4" and 2-1/4" with the Paper Cutter (#104152) and Scoring Blade (#104154). I folded and creased along the score lines, then SNAILed the flap down. I attached the leaves to the band and the oval layer to the leaves with Mini Glue Dots (#103683). These allowed the embellishment to curve to match the glass container. I slid the ribbon through the band and tied it around the container in a knot. A quick trim of the ends with Craft & Paper Scissors (#108360) and it's ready to display!
