When I talked about Blackberry Blass and a Monochromatic Color Scheme, I noted that I needed to recombine the Split Tertiary Color Groups Violet-Red and Red-Violet into the Red-Violet Tertiary Color Group. This gave me more colors to choose from to create a high enough contrast for the Blackberry Bliss Monochrome Scheme.

For the Complementary Color Scheme, Violet-Red’s Complement comes from the Yellow-Green Color Group. However, there aren’t any Stampin’ Up!® colors in the Yellow-Green Split Tertiary Group, so we need to recombine again. Today’s Complementary Color Scheme is Blackberry Bliss and Cucumber Crush, from the Green-Yellow Split Tertiary Group now recombined into the Yellow-Green Tertiary Group.

I like this combination because the intensity of Blackberry Bliss, the Shade of the Violet-Red Group, is complemented so well by the brightness of the Hue of the Green-Yellow Group, Cucumber Crush. The Blackberry Bliss background makes a great showcase for the Cucumber Crush butterflies.

I couldn’t resist coating the butterflies with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. I did not cover the smaller Cucumber Crush butterflies, only the Blackberry Bliss ones. This is so the two layers would stick together. For the smallest butterfly, I trimmed two of the petals from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower into a butterfly shape. If you do this, be sure you line up both sets of wings properly. Mine ended up sideways.

This combination is good for Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, or just about any occasion. I would use Old Olive instead of Cucumber Crush for Sympathy Cards as the colors will be less exuberant.
