Color Combination of the Week for 12/8/2016
I had to miss a couple of weeks giving you the Color Combination of the Week because of technical difficulties. While they’re not all resolved, I’ve got enough fixed to work around them.
This week, I am again going for a different Holiday/Winter Color Scheme. I wanted to use the star I showed in my Stitching with Metallic Thread article, which was done on So Saffron Card Stock. I also wanted to use Sweet Sugarplum because sugarplums are a traditional Christmas treat. These colors are about 60 degrees away from each other on the round Color Wheel, so adding a member of the Blue-Green Color Group, Soft Sky, created a perfect Triadic Color Scheme.
Triadic Color Schemes tend to have a high degree of visual contrast while providing balance and harmony. This is true even with a pastel combination such as So Saffron from the Yellow-Orange Color Group, Sweet Sugarplum from the Red-Violet Color Group and Soft Sky, the Blue-Green Color Group member.
This Color Combination makes a unique Holiday or Winter card or page. It’s also good for Birthday, Party, Baby, Wedding, Bridal or Baby Shower, Get Well, Thank You and Thinking of You themes.
Check back here for the project with the Stitched Star that goes with these colors in a few days.
