Butterfly Congrats Card - Visit

I needed a Congratulations card for my sister and her new husband, but I didn’t know what colors to use.  It was a surprise wedding at the town hall, so they’ll get their card in a few days.  I picked Bermuda Bay and Pool Party (both from the Green Blue Color Group) because the colors are pleasing and reminiscent of a tropical ocean.

My main thrust for this design was to use the new Glassine Sheets, which I just discovered in my supplies.  I stamped a piece of Pool Party Card Stock with the Swallowtail stamp and a Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad to go behind the embossed Glassine Sheet.  I cut across the Glassine Sheet to make a piece the width of the Pool Party piece, but which would overlap the length.  I fastened the embossed Glassine Sheet to the back of the card stock with strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive so the adhesive wouldn’t show through.

You know I just love the Butterflies Thinlits, so it’s no surprise I picked them for this Congrats card.  However, I used the retiring Expressions Natural Elements for the greeting, instead of one of the word Thinlits DiesSince I’m hand-delivering this card, I’m not worried about thickness or weight!  I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the greeting, then coated the top with a layer of glue to get the shine.  This also masks any oozing of the glue on the back (heh, heh).

The Butterfly overlaps the card front, which calls for a larger envelope.  I whipped out one of the Pool Party patterns from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack and made an envelope to fit a 4-1/2” x 6” card with the Envelope Punch Board.  This also gave me a strip of DSP to adhere to the inside of the card.  I didn’t photograph the inside, but that’s where the sentiments from the Something to Say stamp set are.
