Cotton Paper Flower
When the Retiring Stamps & Accessories Lists come out, I typically post projects using items on those lists. Today is no exception. I wanted to make a flower using the Cotton Paper and the Bouquet Bigz™ L Die. Both of these are retiring, naturally. Too bad, because the Cotton Paper is perfect to make flowers and the Bouquet Die is perfect for cutting the Cotton Paper. I folded one sheet of each color in half and cut through eight layers at one time! I could have done more, but this worked.
I had intended the flower to decorate the top of a box, but it turned out huge! Luckily, I had smaller petals for the box. I also wanted to use each color in the Cotton Paper package. This is the result.
The leaves are two of the large Cucumber Crush petals that I left flat for the base. I adhered them to a scrap of Card Stock. I used the Crushed Curry 5-petal flower for the center and as the guide to attach the petals. Before I attached the rest of the flower petals, I overlapped the two sections of each petal base and secured them with a Glue Dot. I found that the Cotton Paper wasn’t fond of adhering with Glue Dots, so I bullied each petal into sticking by pinching it closed and letting my fingers heat the glue. It worked just fine. You have to show paper sometimes who is boss! I attached each petal to the center with Glue Dots as well. When the flower was done, I adhered it to the leaves on the Card Stock scrap with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I used a large Vintage Faceted Button on top of the center flower and tied it through all layers. The Paper Piercing Tool works well to poke holes for the Linen Thread.
So now I have this nice, large flower (almost 6” across). I think it’s destined for a large bag. It’ll work on the largest bag you can make with the Gift Bag Punch Board. Check my Facebook Page in a few days to see what it looks like!
By the way, the Cotton Paper, the Vintage Faceted Buttons and the Bouquet Bigz™ L Die are all retiring, so you may want to head over to my online store to browse and shop!
