New Year's Eve 2016 Hat - Visit

I love the Cutie Pie Thinlits Dies, but I haven’t been making cake-and pie-slice treat boxes with them. Instead, I’ve been making hats! I did a Witches’ Hat Box for Hallowe’en and a Santa Hat (which only my subscribers saw – so sign up now – box at right!) for Christmas. So, this Party Hat Box is just in time for a New Year’s Eve Party to welcome in 2016. You can do up a whole bunch in a jiffy!

Die-cut the cake slices from Silver Foil Sheets. Cut away one of the flaps at the “nose” of the box. Adhere the box together with Tear & Tape Adhesive on one side so the whole thing lays flat. It’s easier to work with that way.

Cut 2-0-1-6 from Gold Foil Sheets with the Little Numbers Thinlits Dies. I cut four of each so there was one group on each side. Attach the numbers at jaunty angles to each other with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. Let dry. If the numbers start curling up, flatten them by covering with a Silicone Craft Sheet, then the weight. The Craft Sheet won’t stick!

I don’t recommend using Glimmer Paper for the box. It’s very hard to stick together unless you use Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Even then, you have to hold it together while it dries and I don’t have the patience for that. So, I avoid Glimmer Paper for the box. The Numbers, however, are a different story!

To finish, adhere the box together on the remaining side and nose. Punch holes across the nose with the 1/8” Circle Handheld Punch. Thread two pieces of 1/8” Metallic Ribbon (one Silver, one Gold) through the hole and tie into a floppy bow. You can try curling the ends of the ribbon with scissors or a Bone Folder, but I didn’t find it worked too well. The curls came out very soft and gentle.
