Leaf Tile Inspiration from Disneyland - Visit

Inspiration from DisneylandLeaf Tile I found – the 2nd idea from my trip this month.  (See Background Inspiration from Anywhere article.)  I’ve been working on a design for a “Winter Leaves” card to use the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set and the Leaflets Framelits™ Dies.  I found this tile and Voila! my design just fell into place.  I will be posting the completed project in a few days.

I will not be replicating this tile, but using the elements as inspiration for the card I’ll be making.  I won’t be using the same Color Scheme as the tile because I’ve had my own in mind for several weeks.

I plan to use the tile’s Color Scheme to inspire a Watercolor project with the Brusho® Crystal Colours.  We won’t be playing with this idea in my Make a Mess with Watercolor class on Saturday, but I may use it in a future class.  This depends upon how well it turns out, of course.

If I wanted to replicate the tile’s Color Scheme, I would start with a Whisper White background and wash it with Tranquil TideIsland Indigo would also work, but there is more Green in Tranquil Tide.  I would keep the wash to shadow under the leaves when they’re applied.

The wave border looks like Powder Pink accented with Calypso Coral.  To simulate, stamp a wave image in Powder Pink, then sponge parts of it with Calypso Coral.  Use the Tranquil Tide wash to add shadows to the image.

Very Vanilla should work well for the leaves.  Cut them out and sponge the edges and ends lightly with Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze for the Brown edges and Garden Green with Tranquil Tide for the Green edges.
