Pear Pizzazz Coming Up Roses
The Complement to Pear Pizzazz from the Green-Yellow Color Group is Rose Red from the Red-Violet Color Group. Actually, Pear Pizzazz looks great in combination with any of the Reds, Red-Violets and Red-Oranges. One of these makes the combination a Semi-Split Complementary Color Scheme or an Analogous Color Scheme.
However, today we’re using Pear Pizzazz with Rose Red in a Complementary Color Scheme. And we’re doing a rose from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set! I wanted to make a tall card, but without the issues I had in my article, Pink Pirouette in a Split Complementary Scheme. The easy solution was to make the greeting a separate element! This lets it overlap the image without getting muddled.
The mat for the greeting is done with my usual method when I don’t want a full 1/4” or so showing around the edges. I turn over the Thinlits™ Die and trace around it on my matting card stock, then cut the frame out. It usually fits the die-cut image pretty well!
Coloring on regular Card Stock can be a challenge for the markers leaving streaks, but if you color in circles and blend the color in, it looks just great! I also added some misdirection by painting the edges of the petals with the Wink of Stella Gold Glitter Brush. I coated the center of the rose with it, but it looked too flat. So, out come the Iced Rhinestone Embellishments and we’re all fixed!
This combination is great for Birthday, Friendship, Thank You, Thinking of You, or even Valentines. If you use it for Christmas or Holiday, I’d substitute one of the other Reds. Needless to say, the combination works for scrapbook pages as well. The design is wonderful for any Rose lovers and you’ll have your cards and pages coming up roses!
