Pink Pirouette Butterfly Birthday Card - Visit

I made this card design to show you that Stampin’ Up!® colors go with each other extremely well!.. I picked a sheet from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack for the background to the Pink Pirouette Main Color.  I talked about a Split Complementary Color Scheme with Pink Pirouette a couple of days ago. This takes the Color Scheme a step further.

The predominant colors in the pattern are Calypso Coral and Old Olive. Basic Black is a Neutral and just supports the color scheme. Pink Pirouette is the Tint of the Red Color Group. Right beside it is the Red-Orange Color Group, of which Calypso Coral is a Tint. The Complementary Color Group to Red-Orange is Green-Yellow. Old Olive is a darker Tint in that Color Group. These three create what I call a Semi-Split Complementary Scheme because Red is alongside Red-Orange and Red-Orange is directly opposite Green-Yellow on the Color Wheel. In addition, the very pale center of the Calypso Coral flowers is almost Pink Pirouette.

The Pretty Petals paper provides a nice, high contrast to the Pink Pirouette butterfly. I’m short on birthday cards, so “happy birthday” is the greeting I used. To make the coordinating envelope, I used another sheet of paper in the same pattern and die-cut an Envelope Liner using the Big Shot and the Envelope Liner Framelits Dies. Remember you only need to attach the liner to the envelope at the flap.

This combination is great for Birthday, Party, Congratulations, Thank You, Friendship, Get Well Soon and any other occasion, including Sympathy. Scrapbook pages can use the color block technique for the paper, since it comes in 6” x 6” sheets and really doesn’t piece together with pattern matching.
