Popcorn Box Desk Organizer
My studio tool holder is trying to fall apart, so I thought I’d use the Popcorn Box Thinlits™ Dies and make a pencil cup desk organizer. I ended up with a Pens Plus Organizer that holds a variety of Markers, Aqua Painters, Pens and Paper Snips. I forgot to put my Bone Folder in for the photo, but there’s plenty of room!
I decorated the outside with panels of Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper. To do this, I die-cut two of the box pieces, then cut them down by 1/8” all around. It’s easiest to adhere the panels to the box pieces before you assemble, but be sure to crease the score lines well (with the Bone Folder) so you have plenty of visibility to line them up!
To support the Popcorn Box, I cut it from Thick Whisper White 8-1/2” x 11” Card Stock, then inserted a 1-3/4” square after the box was assembled. The Bone Folder came in handy again to push the square into all the corners at the bottom. The supporting square is easy enough to remove if you want to fold up the box for storage.
Note on assembly – you can adhere one side together while it’s lying flat, but you will need to adhere the remaining side when you’ve got it folded. Otherwise, you won’t be able to line up the edges correctly. If this happens, you won’t be able to collapse the box for storage without tearing it.
