Real Life Color Coach Color of the Week: Blackberry Bliss

Blackberry Bliss Tea-riffic Card-Visit

Blackberry Bliss is the darker Shade of the Violet-Red Color Group. Its companions in this group are the lighter Shade, Rich Razzleberry, and the Tone, Perfect Plum. These colors are too close in intensity to be successfully used in a Monochromatic Color Scheme.

So, I consolidated the Violet-Red and Red-Violet Color Groups for today’s Monochromatic Scheme. These groups are my Split Tertiary Color Groups, so I simply put them back together into their Tertiary Group. I selected Melon Mambo, the Red-Violet Tint, for its brightness to contrast with Blackberry Bliss. I needed to add the Neutral Basic Gray to put some contrast between the Melon Mambo print of the Designer Series Paper and the Melon Mambo background layer.

I layered the Blackberry Bliss Die-Cuts over Melon Mambo Die-Cuts so the color through the cut outs would show. I didn’t have a small enough die or punch to use on the teapot cover, so I attached one of the small hearts from the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers to a scrap of Melon Mambo and cut it out. I used Paper Snips and cut close to the edge of the sticker. A folded up Glue Dot and you’re good to go!

This color combination works well for Friendship, Birthday, Get Well, Thank You and most other occasions. For Sympathy cards, I would recommend using the Tone, Rose Red, in place of Melon Mambo because it is more muted.
