Real Life Color Coach Color of the Week: Lost Lagoon
I showed this card in my Sizzix on Saturday article, A Tip or Two About the Wonderful Wreath Dies, but I saved the Color discussion for today. Ordinarily, I introduce the color of the week with a Monochromatic Color Scheme, but I couldn’t get a good Green-Blue Color Group combination that appealed to me for Christmas, especially since I wanted to use the Wonderful Wreath Framelits™ Dies and the Peaceful Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set. So – Complementary it is!
Lost Lagoon, a Tone of the Green-Blue Color Group, has a great Complement in Cherry Cobbler, the Shade from the Red-Violet Color Group. I wanted the Lost Lagoon wreath to stand out from the background, so I stamped leaf images on a layer of Mint Macaron, a Tint of the Green-Blue Color Group. That gave the wreath a bit more emphasis.
This color combination works well for Christmas, but is a little muted for Party Invitations, unless they’re formal. This combination is also good for Masculine cards, Thank You cards and Sympathy cards. I’d hesitate to use this for December Birthdays – those folks really deserve to have their birthday distinct from the Holidays!
