Emerald Envy Watermelon Punch Art Card - visit http://www.3amstamper.com

This Watermelon Punch Art Card is made in an Emerald Envy Split Complementary Color Scheme.  The Complement to Green is Red, but I didn’t want to make a Christmas or Primary card, so I went with the Tertiary Color Groups on either side of Red.

Emerald Envy is the Hue of the Green Color Group.  The Split Complements I used are Watermelon Wonder, the Hue of the Red-Orange Color Group, and Sweet Sugarplum, the Tint of the Violet-Red/Red-Violet Color Group.  I could have used just Watermelon Wonder and called it a Demi Split-Complementary Color Scheme, but I didn’t want to make the idea that complicated.

I called this design a Punch Art Card, but the only punches I used are the 1” and 1-1/4” Circle Punches for the sentiment.  The watermelon is made with Layering Circles Framelits™ Dies.  I love all the Layering Die sets because they create mats in my preferred size!  No more tracing around the outside and fussy cutting the mat any more!!  Well, except for the Lots of Labels Framelits and others without “Layering” in their name.

I used a stamp from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set to make the seeds.  They are stamped all the way around the Watermelon Wonder circle with the Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Pad.  After I layered the circles, I cut them in half, getting rid of the side with the messy images!

The plate under the watermelon is die-cut from Layering Ovals Framelits™ Dies.  I sponged the edge of the inner Sweet Sugarplum oval with the Emerald Envy Pad to add depth because Emerald Envy is the Real Life Color Coach Color of the Week.  You could also use Early Espresso, which I felt was too much contrast, or even Sweet Sugarplum to create the depth effect.  If you wanted even more dimension, you could die-cut a frame with the two oval dies, then cut another large oval and glue them together.  This means you wouldn’t need to sponge.  However, that’s more work than I wanted to put in!

This color combination is good for Birthday, Party, Celebration, Friendship, Thank You, Fun or any whimsical occasion.  The same goes for Scrapbook Pages, too.
